Because the only place where you can get away with flaming and trashtalking is AB.
Before the report function, I loved to shout random phrases and see how the other team would react to it.

For some people, it's just harmless trash talking, like calling out that pack of musclehead scholarship-whoring retards playing football at USC.
Other people actually believe it, and they're idiots.

Me three. It's natural to taunt an otherwise get the opposing team angry at you and out of focus. I guess some of you have never played football or the like where mouthing and taunting goes on constantly. Sounds like some people been playing in bowling leagues too long. lol

It kills me when they yell "Are you Kurzicks/Luxons so scared to fight us?" when they are just miss the first 30 sec of queue time.

Yeah it's kinda like going to Medieval Times, if anyone's been there. Or a wrestling event and booing for the bad guys, even though you still get their autographs afterwards. But I can see that some people take it really seriously. I even recieved a guest invite from someone to challenge me to a one on one PvP thing and sending me aggressive whispers. It was like online road rage. I hardly even said anything in local chat during the battle.

On a related note, I ran across an old friend today from playing Fort Aspenwood, and we talked about other old faces from there. I'm glad I don't play much AB, because it doesn't sound like people are remembered as much or people switch sides as often.

I don't encounter too much Luxon-Kurzick hate. What I have noticed though, more and more, are Assassins swearing at people and calling them Cowards for kiting. Seems to be happening more these days...though there seems to be an increased number of assassins, to both sides. It's not Alliance Battles any more, its Assassin Battles.

Whenever I've AB'd (not so much these days), I've tried to discourage that kind of language on the Kurzick side. It really is unnecessary, but it is part of the same general mind-set that turns PvPers in general into aggressive, confrontational arseholes.
More often than not though... my "Hug a Luxon" project, involving trying to get everyone on the Kurzick side to be kind and supporting to the Luxons.... usually either falls on its face completely, or results in a LOT of patronising going on. The latter, at least, is amusing......
Okokok... so I actively encourage Kurzicks to be patronising rather than childishly offensive.
But that'd only be because the Luxons turned to a life of piracy because they never had healthy, stable, loving homes to grow up in... and it is better to encourage them to reform than to chide and attack them for all that has happened to them.

people who take this seriuosly should go see a doctor
it's one thing to joke other to plainly hate and curse the players on the other side because of some game faction

Which is party why i avoid AB withsome of my casters, since at LEAST 40% of each side is made up of assassins, supporting the theory that most of the verbal abuse thats thrown around AB is from the people that play the profession.
Now dont get my wrong, i am no hater of assassins (or kurzicks, really), i'm a hater of the people that play the profession. The emotes after the 1,2,3,4,5 combo and the verbal taunts are what really nibbles at you.
I'm sure if they disallowed lead attacks, off-hand attacks and dual attacks from being placed next to each other in the skillbar, things would be different .

Hey hey. My home was a giant turtle shell. You don't get much more "stable" than that.
Roof mounted cannon ftw.

Mine was a tree.... made of rock. =P
It doesn't move.
It doesn't change.
It is the bastion of stability.
And it is cannon-proof. ^_^
Come on Luxon. We know you want a blue cape really. You're just afraid of being rejected again. We Kurzicks won't do that though. Family is important to us.

Whenever the Luxons are winning and they are getting happy about beating us, I politely explain my theory for this. It's that so many Luxons are tired of losing so they join the Kurzicks hoping to start winning. But because they are former Luxons, thus bad at AB, the effect is that they hold us back in battle so sometimes we lose. Boy that really gets to them heheheh.

I just find the whole "OMG Kurzicks are mobbing, all they do is mob" stuff like its the ultimate strategy quite funny. If people would avoid it and cap rather than charging at it, its an easy win.. In terms of Kurzick/Luxon rivalry I don't take it seriously, more a fun roleplay thing at the start of an AB "e.g. Turtle loving scum, how dare you invade the echovald!" (followed by gl, hf )

I just point out that the top Kurzick folks are FFFing, because the option is there... so that leaves only the newb Kurzicks who don't know how to FFF in the battle area.
Then again, since I've discovered how to Luxon FFF and made a thread about it in the farming board, the gypsy-pirates don't have any excuse not to do it now.

That happened to me, I gave them there dual on my PvP ranger, I won.
"ZOMG SUXON HAXER!!"
And one thing, it always seems to be the Kurzicks with bad manners when I AB. Like if we lose, we say gg and get over it, Kurzicks go physco at us, but that's probably because I play with my guild.

And you're already succumbing to it.
Afterall, I saw exactly the opposite: a whole load of abuse from Luxons.
After a while watching though, I saw it was about equal on both sides of the board.... and for that matter I WAS spending my time trying to get the Kurzicks to be nicer to the Luxons.

Thats because you really only notice the insults/taunts from the others (sort of like turning a blind eye). As far as I can see both sides are being let down by 12 year old 12345 narutards trading bad words with each other to use later if/when needed.
Although Im always bashing sins... there are quite a few skilled ones out there (that can regularily and easily whop my ass ) who know how to work in a team and are polite.... so not every sin=retard.... but seemingly 90% retards are sins

Seems about 50/50 with the Wammos from what I've seen.... but then everyone knows that Wammos are generally likely to be idiots.
